Driving jobs not only in the United States, but in territories like Australia, Canada, Ireland and UK are highly in demand. However, to become a driver who makes a good living off of it, you need a class A driver's license. If you want to know more about this, check out Commercial Drivers License.
In most countries, the license has five or less standard issues, ranked according to classes. Class A license requirements are, of course, much harder to meet than typical class C driver's license requirements. However, the job opportunities for people who have what it takes to get an A license pay considerably higher, one of which is trucking or truck driving. This job pays considerably higher compared to other driving jobs in all countries. An entry-level trucker can make up to $40,000 per year, depending on his qualifications and driving skills. Depending on the work experience of the driver, he can make up to twice more than that in high-paying companies that transport valuable goods.
A truck driver handles a huge transport truck used to move goods to and fro factories and dealers. The trucks travel on a city routes specified by the company within the state, usually a few cities in between. In the United States, a person with a class A driver's license can immediately qualify for a trucker job that pays well. Otherwise, the companies will ask the applicant to take a CDL training program or obtain a class A license first. In a lot of cases, it's necessary to get a Commercial Driver's License before you can qualify for high-paying trucker jobs in different countries.
Keep in mind that obtaining a Commercial Driver's License is a lot more complex than obtaining a C-class license, which is a standard issue for drivers of single vehicles the size of cars. In the trucking industry, licensure depends on the average weight of the vehicle that a person is qualified to drive or has driven before. This is called the GVWR or Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. The rating is supposed to be given by the previous company the applicant has worked for, as they are the ones who can verify the actual weight of the vehicle that was driven. To obtain a Class A CDL, a driver should have driven a mass vehicle with a GVWR of over 26,001 lbs.-”that's 16,001 lbs. for the truck itself and 10,000 lbs. or more for the towed or transported items.
Drivers with class A commercial driver's license are qualified to drive flatbeds, tankers and tow trucks. It's important to note that the type of company that the driver applies for will decide the ceiling of the pay scale he will get. For instance, the pay scale for drivers handling dump trucks will be much lower compared to drivers of tow trucks carrying really expensive sports cars.
There's a great need for qualified truck drivers in many countries today. That makes truck drivers with an A-class CDL in demand. Those who are willing to take on this job, but don't have the qualification as of yet, are advised to attend a truck driving school and take defensive driving classes before they take a class A license exam.
